To be accountable for stimulating, directing and participating in the formulation of policies. To assure the effective implementation of policies, objectives and strategic plans and provide broad tactical guidance to all areas of the corporation in order to supply economical, reliable electric service to Ocmulgee EMC's consumers.
PURPOSE OF POSITION DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position description is only to give a general overview of the major objectives and responsibilities of the position. The General Manager shall be required to perform any other duties assigned by the Board of Directors in order to fulfill the objectives of the Cooperative.
III.MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS
All requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities. Some requirements may exclude individuals who pose a direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of themselves or other employees.
Prefer High School Graduate/Equivalent and College Degree in Business; however, educational preferences may be waived in lieu of extensive rural electric cooperative experience.
Requires ability to make good, sound business decisions on a daily basis.
Requires a valid Georgia Driver's License with a verifiable safe driving record (Georgia Public Safety MVR required).
Requires ability to satisfactorily pass Ocmulgee EMC's employment entrance examination and drug screen.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be available to work on short notice if necessary or during emergency situations.
Physical Abilities and Requirements
Requires physical ability in sitting, standing, walking, bending, grasping and fine manipulation with both hands, defined light work. Must possess sight and hearing ability.
Requires ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Must possess ability to give and take direction.
Must be able to communicate well with consumers, employees, Board of Directors, other associate organizations and general public.
Must have ability to manage personal time and ability to control anger, especially in dealing with consumers and employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Ocmulgee EMC. This document does not create an employment contract, implied, or otherwise, other than an "at will" employment relationship.
Responsible to Board of Directors for entire business operation which includes key areas of power supply, financial condition, market position, energy conservation, service leadership, productivity, member relations, public and government relations, employee development and relations, organizational structure, and environmental considerations.
Responsible for selecting and rewarding Ocmulgee EMC's employees in order to (a) Assure a high level of productivity (b) Assure best use of individual and group capabilities (c) Assure continuity consistent with the cooperative's present and future needs.
To provide direction for capital investment and to continually review and control the investments of the cooperative.
To present the EMC's operating budget to the Board of Directors and upon approval, to monitor expenditures in order to have the cooperative follow the approved budget and control costs.
To formulate cooperative policies and objectives and to ensure their effective implementation.
To supervise, guide and advise Ocmulgee EMC's staff in the resolution of significant problems and questions that affect the achievement of the cooperative's goals and objectives.
To develop and coordinate plans which identify and analyze opportunities that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the operation of the cooperative.
Responsible for long-range planning and financing of the Cooperative.
Responsible for the compliance of policies, procedures, practices, operations, legislative rules and regulations in order to protect the interest of the Cooperative.
To assure that all distribution and related facilities are constructed, operated and maintained in ways that fulfill consumers' energy needs in economical, reliable ways.
VII. AUTHORITY
The General Manager shall have full authority to carry out these duties and responsibilities in conformity with established policies and procedures; to use judgment and initiative in making decisions; to make suggestions for improvement of operations. He/she shall secure approval of Board of Directors/Attorney when policies, guidelines, bylaws are not clear or adequate or require interpretation.
