The Vice President of Advancement (VPA) stewards the college's foundation, innovation, business partnerships public and government relations, and grants in alignment with its mission, vision, and strategic goals. The VPA provides oversight for fund development through relationships and grants, community, and government. The VPA directs all aspects the Hennepin Technical College Foundation to advance philanthropy and fundraising in support of the college mission and student success.
This is a senior leadership, cabinet-level position that reports directly to the president. The VPA collaborates with other college and business leaders on a diverse range of college-wide plans, projects, and initiatives; serves on a variety of committees and work groups; and may serve as the president's designated representative of the college in community and public settings.
Specific Duties Include:
Serves as an ambassador in support of the mission, vision and values of Hennepin Technical College, and plays an integral role in increasing philanthropic support through building authentic relationships with friends and alumni of the College.
Provides strategic leadership to the Foundation Board and Board committees.
Solicits, designs and presents funding proposals on behalf of the foundation and college.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job):
Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least three 3 years of progressively senior leadership roles that include supervising, leading, and inspiring teams.
Demonstrated experience of budgeting, quality control and finances
Demonstrated ability to lead change to grow a college and foundation advancement-related functions, preferably in a collaborative, non-profit or public sector organization.
Demonstrated ability to make data-informed, equity-minded, and independent decisions, including those regarding sensitive and confidential matters.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with people from a variety of backgrounds, and exceptional written, oral, and public speaking skills.
Knowledge of and commitment to the mission and values of a community college, with experience in fundraising, donor and industry relations, and grant work.
Working knowledge of key state and federal laws and regulations governing nonprofit and public sector organizations.

Master's degree in a related field and organizational leadership with at least one 1 year of executive experience as a college administrator
Robust strategic planning aptitude and organizational skills to strengthen the institution, work across divisions, and collaborate in a college or university setting.
Demonstrated commitment to Hennepin Technical College mission, vision, and values
Familiarity with fundraising and the philanthropic community in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
