The Engineering and Public Policy department at Carnegie Mellon University seeks a Program Director to oversee their Master's degree programs in Engineering & Technology Innovation Management (ETIM) and Engineering and Public Policy (EPP). The successful candidate will oversee all operations of the programs including: recruiting, admissions, hiring adjunct instructors, managing instructors and staff, teaching courses, mentoring students, building internship opportunities, program evaluation, and curriculum planning. ETIM has a strong set of corporate partners that provide projects, summer internships, and employment for students, and the new director should maintain and expand these partnerships. This position would be either Teaching Track Faculty or Special Faculty.

Carnegie Mellon's MS in ETIM program cultivates next-generation, innovation leaders. It equips engineers and scientists with specialized business skills, frameworks and technical acuity necessary to creating value, and ultimately capturing value from innovative technologies. This is a unique, two-semester program that runs from January to December with a required summer internship as part of the experience. Recent enrollment has been 40-50 students per year. Carnegie Mellon's MS in EPP specializes in policy-relevant problems for which technical are central, including domains like energy, environment, information and communication technology, innovation, and risk communication. Both MS programs are part of the Department of Engineering and Public Policy, a highly interdisciplinary department that prepares engineers to bring their technical skills into the worlds of business and public policy. It is part of the College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, a top-ranked engineering program in a dynamic and highly livable urban location.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of corporate and academic work experience. Candidates should have a proven record of technology innovation and management experience in the corporate sector, an understanding of the needs of industry, strong administrative and people management skills, and an aptitude for teaching and mentoring. An ideal candidate might also have experience in government, corporate government relations or regulatory compliance.
