Position Description:

The Senior Director, Private Markets bolsters ACEC’s capabilities to serve members in private market sectors.  The ideal candidate will be adept at producing market intelligence and economic briefings, have practical experience in supporting advocacy and educational programs, and possess strong written and verbal communications skills. The position will enhance the ACEC’s ongoing efforts to serve current members and recruit new members who are active in private markets.   The position serves as a focal point for ACEC members on private markets issues.

Duties:

• Provide insight and lead content development related to the economic/market conditions paramount to engineering firms, particularly those working in the private sector; this will include the key market trends as well as quarterly economic summaries.
• Lead the overall development of business resources for member firms operating in the private market focused on the four submarkets identified as 1. Commercial & Residential Real Estate; 2. Intermodal & Logistics; 3. Energy & Utilities; and 4. Health Care & Science+Technology.
• Continuously identify and support advocacy issues related to the private-sector market.
• Identify associations and other organizations/coalitions representing the private market and explore and support interactions with these entities, including joint efforts on advocacy initiatives and educational sessions.
• Identify and help (as needed) recruit firms that have significant private-client practices.

Qualifications: 

• Knowledge of design firm operations, national economic and market trends related to engineering firms and the construction industry.
• Possess substantial knowledge of engineering private client markets, experience in business development or work with development teams.
• Excellent presentation, writing, and interpersonal skills.
• Able to take initiative, and work effectively and cooperatively with members.
• A minimum of ten years of experience with engineering/construction or related industries, or associations.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (i.e., business, marketing, economics, urban studies/planning, public policy, or English/communications); a master’s degree is a plus.
• Salary commensurate with experience.
