The Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) is seeking an experienced leader and planning professional to manage the Oregon Coastal Management Program (OCMP) at DLCD. 

As part of DLCD’s mission, in partnership with community members and local governments, we foster equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and vibrant communities, while protecting our natural resources legacy for current and future generations. The Oregon Coastal Management Program (OCMP) protects coastal and ocean resources and ensures livable, resilient communities by integrating activities of local, state, and federal agencies on the Oregon coast.

While this position is based in Salem, Oregon, the successful candidate will have the ability to request a hybrid remote/office work arrangement up to three days a week.

This position is responsible for managing the activities of the Ocean and Coastal Services Division (OCSD). Responsibilities include leading and directing the work and priorities of OCSD staff.  This position will also manage and direct work related to federal grant programs which provide funding for much of the OCMP work.  The incumbent will represent the agency and state in various capacities on complex ocean and coastal priorities and issues.

This position serves as part of the agency’s dedicated management team.

Three years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, and d) budget preparation.

OR

Two years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, and d) budget preparation;

AND 45-48 quarter hours (30-32 semester hours) of graduate level coursework in management.

OR

Three years of professional experience as a program/project leader, assigning and reviewing work of professional staff (e.g., engineers, etc.) including project responsibility for developing goals and objectives, project evaluation, and monitoring and controlling or preparing a budget.
