Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supports educational program operations to ensure compliance with state and school board standards.
2. Provides leadership in operations activities to support school reform initiatives
3. Conducts high level investigations in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources
4. Monitors Security staffing and supervises the Assistant Director of Security
5. Ensures safety protocols are in place and updated yearly
6. Collaborates with other departments to identify and implement needed procedures and programs that support the instructional success of teachers and students
7. Collaborates with the Director of Grants and Development to ensure that Title I funds, school improvement funds and other grants are linked to instructional operations to support efficient classroom instruction. Participates as a member of district improvement committees to ensure system-wide reform
8. Collaborates with the Department of Community Services in the establishment of intervention programs to address school safety, student behavior, and monitors the programs for their effectiveness
9. Remains current in studies of best practices in education and keeps informed of federal, state, and local regulations
10. Interfaces with the Chief Academic Officer and Executive Directors of Elementary and Secondary Education in instructional course design, revision, and implementation
11. Provides oversight to the middle and high school student scheduling process
12. Interfaces with the Department of Community Services in resolving student/parent/staff complaints, safety concerns, and transfers
13. Collaborates with principals in establishing operations programs that will maximize opportunities for students to meet grade level expectations
14. Interfaces with the Director of Accountability in using data to inform the work of the schools
15. Provides oversight of the implementation of leadership teams within each school
16. Serves as district liaison with Lehigh Career and Technical Institute
17. Collaborates with community partners such as but not limited to Allentown Police Department, Lehigh Valley Hospital systems, Colleges and Universities, Lehigh Valley Workforce Investment Board to establish apprenticeships and mentoring programs for students supported through the Department of Grants and Development
18. Serves as District liaison on Board of Education Athletic sub-committee and is responsible for the oversight and budget of inter scholastic athletics
19. Responsible for overseeing Security officers within the District.
20. Collaborates with the Acting Deputy Superintendent in legal matters (i.e. litigation, real estate transactions)
21. Supports the Acting Deputy Superintendent in the preparation of draft Board policies, administrative rules, and status reports for the Superintendent’s and Board of Directors’ review and action
22. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the Acting Deputy Superintendent or the Superintendent of Schools
