POSITION SUMMARY The EHS Advisor position is a regulatory compliance assurance office and field-based role responsible for supporting all Hess operated assets. The position has primary responsibility in assisting Hess operated assets (worldwide) with compliance with environmental health and safety regulations and permits. This position works closely with all asset personnel; (EHS, Operations, MR&I, Exploration, Drilling). In addition to internal relationships, the EHS Advisor will be able to serve as a liaison between Hess and regulatory agency contacts. Day to day activities of the position are focused on assisting the assets with developing and optimizing compliance tracking and reporting systems. The position regularly requires working with in-house staff and/or mixed in-house/consultants project teams. This position may at time require managing logistics/budgets. EHS Advisor is expected to be capable of independent analysis of data, data trends. Proficient at reading and interpreting regulatory requirements, writing reports to senior management and developing appropriate solutions to meet company compliance requirements. Roles and Responsibilities - In charge of providing regulatory and environmental compliance support to operating businesses and assets including exploration new country entry analysis, production, gas plant processing, midstream pipelines/terminals and associated support facilities (corporate aviation and facilities management) regarding National, Federal, State and Local environmental regulations and accepted Recommended Practices
- Functioned as Project Lead for developing internal process, standards and software for company asset specific compliance registries
- Monitor regulations to determine impact on operations and advise management accordingly also monitor issues, tracks trends and updates on relevant government initiatives, regulations and policies in states/countries where Hess operates
- Represent and advocate on behalf of the company with state and federal regulatory agencies in addition to representing Hess as appropriate at federal, regional, and state trade organizations.
- Support Hess’s business by developing proactive federal/state environmental regulatory policy strategies. Support Hess advocacy staff on regulating issues to help drive reasonable rulemaking and regulatory interpretations
- Work with Hess’s government relations and communications department to support the implementation of the company’s government relations strategies.
- Support the development of Hess public policy positions, including the drafting of white papers and commenting on proposed regulations.
- Support compliance tracking and execution assurance systems (e.g., preparation of regulatory outlooks, analysis of new regulations, preparation of regulatory interpretations, and preparing applicability determinations).
- Provide aid by conducting workshops on new and existing EHS regulations and assist with the preparation of compliance support tools (e.g. compliance checklists and manuals).
- Participate as Hess Incident Management Team member (ICS 100/200 organization structure) in the Liaison Officer and Environmental Section Lead Roles
- Assist with assets with the completion of required inspection and testing including but not limited to quarterly AVO air surveillance, semiannual OGI, and quarterly SPCC inspections
- Assist assets with actions to close audit findings. Follow up on corrective actions to verify implementation and compliance
- Provide technical assistance, regulatory oversight, and coaching as needed
- Provide training to operation field personnel for state and federal regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with assets to ensure development of SOPs for compliant operation of equipment
- Facilitate discussion of field observations and program improvements at daily Operations meeting
- Up to 30% Travel domestic and International
