POSITION SUMMARY A positive, proactive, action-oriented professional, the Business Relationship Director is inquisitive and committed to finding solutions that positively impact our members, the communities that we service and the Association as a whole. The Business Relationship Director will build meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, members and influencers. They are a strong communicator with a knack for deciphering complex and technical information. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Assigned with or without reasonable accommodation: - Establish and cultivate meaningful relationships with key commercial and industrial accounts including developing and implementing a measurable key accounts strategy.
- Identify and address the individual needs of our key members and provide information, technical assistance and solutions.
- Develop contacts with business and community leaders through involvement in chambers, social organizations, service organization, elected official activities, and community and economic development groups to identify opportunities that align with and advance the Association’s mission and strategic priorities.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with applicable local government officials.
- Work closely with the larger Member and Government Relations team to implement measurable, appropriate, targeted communications efforts to key stakeholders.
- Champions the Association’s economic development efforts.
- Work with other departments to bring a team approach to solving member problems and needs.
- Understand, review and approve billing elements for all industrial accounts including energy, demand, products and services, fees, taxes and any appropriate adjustments.
- Organize onsite meetings and facilitate programs and discussions related to specific key account needs.
- Assist in the development and execution of commercial offerings related to energy efficiency, energy shaping and demand response products and services.
- Conduct field investigations as necessary and utilize the assistance of Association personnel and external vendors, engineers, electricians, etc., in analyzing and recommending solutions for auditing, lighting, wiring and equipment for commercial accounts.
- Create and maintain member profiles for key accounts including activity tracking and needs assessments.
- Prepare weekly executive reports on commercial accounts, economic development and local government.
- Support and assist with any needs in the Member and Government Relations department including participation in activities, shows, displays, and other events.
- After hours work and overnight travel is necessary for attending some conferences, training, and out-of-town meetings to achieve the Association’s goals.

- Collaborate effectively and successfully with all departments of the Association as well as with members, the public, other utility personnel, governmental agencies and equipment vendors in a kind and courteous manner.
- Assist in the emergency restoration of facilities during storm or general outages.
- Regular and predictable attendance are essential functions of the position.
- Perform other duties within his or her capabilities as directed by his or her supervisors.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or formal training needed: This position requires a minimum of an associate degree (A.S. or A.A.S); a bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in business, marketing or engineering is preferred. Applicant must possess or intend to obtain a Certified Key Account Executive (CKAE) status. CKAE status must be obtained in a timeline determined by management. Experience needed: At least ten years of related experience if combined with an associate degree or five years related experience if combined with a bachelor’s degree. Related work experience includes commercial, industrial and residential energy auditing, energy usage, high usage resolution and customer service. Experience in making presentations and providing information to trade and public groups is required. Training in public relations is desirable. Knowledge, skill and abilities needed: - Strong people skills and the ability to communicate to a variety of audiences while maintaining effective working relationships with people of various backgrounds.
- Willingness to collaborate openly and effectively with team members.
- Must have knowledge and experience of commercial issues including but not limited to; electrical needs and equipment, usage, auditing, conservation. Must have knowledge of electrical delivery systems, including power production, transmission, distribution, wiring and equipment on consumer premises.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills required to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner demonstrated by gathering and analyzing information skillfully, developing alternative solutions, working well in group problem-solving situations.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks; Ability to complete assignments in a thorough, accurate and timely manner.
- Must possess exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills as well as an overall confident and competent presence.
- Commitment to seek creative solutions to overcome obstacles.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Proficiency working with project management software.
Drug/Alcohol: A drug/alcohol test is administered to all job offer recipients, as well as a background check. WORKING CONDITIONS The work environment is a comfortable office environment. There is adequate lighting, heating, cooling, etc. The noise level is estimated to be 50-90 decibels.
