The Graduate School of Public Health is hiring a Research Director in the Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM). The Research Director will be responsible for managing a large portfolio of research under the direction the Vice Chair for Research in HPM. The selected candidate will support research projects related to Medicare and Medicaid policy, behavioral health policy. This individual will support a large distributed research network, and advance use of large-scale data for health services and policy research.
The Research Director will help to manage several projects funded by NIH, private foundations, and federal and state contracts. Key responsibilities will include fostering collaboration with federal and state government agencies, managing communication and collaboration with 12 state Medicaid agencies and their university partners, and conducting outreach to and education of investigators throughout the health sciences schools to expand use of large-scale data for multi-disciplinary health services research.
Responsibilities will include developing internal and external relationships, managing communication with diverse stakeholders, providing general research assistance, developing grant and contract proposals, and participating in writing manuscripts, policy briefs, and other deliverables. Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communications skills are required. Experience with large, multi-disciplinary teams highly desirable. Experience working in health sciences at the University of Pittsburgh highly desired, along with knowledge of health policy issues.
PhD preferred, may substitute with fewer years of relevant experience. Minimum of 2-3 years experience in health policy analysis, government relations, health care data analysis and/or other related fields is preferred.
