Job Description Summary
Associate Director position for Federal Affairs located in Washington, DC.
Associate Director position for Federal Affairs located in Washington, DC supporting the University's Office of Government and Community Affairs. Position works with AVP to perform a range of responsibilities on behalf of University stakeholders, including the following: serving as a representative of the University in Washington, DC; building and managing relationships with Congress and government agency staff; reviewing and analyzing policy initiatives; creating and implementing communications strategies and developing reports and briefing materials. Associate Director coordinates student, faculty and staff activities in Washington and supports related events on campus. Familiarity with higher education issues and federal government is essential. Frequent travel between Philadelphia and Washington.
A Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in government relations or higher education is required. Experience working on Capitol Hill or in federal agencies preferred. Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, coordinate several assignments simultaneously, and produce significant volume of work on a sustainable basis. Must recognize deadlines and prioritize work accordingly and demonstrate an ability to work cooperatively in a team-based environment. Excellent organizational, verbal and written communications skills are essential. Position requires frequent travel between Philadelphia and Washington.
