Reporting to the Dean of Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM), the Director will advocate for Rowan Medicine/RowanSOM with government and community officials by serving as the conduit of information from the school to federal and state governments.
The successful candidate will understand both state and federal governmental practices, possess outstanding knowledge of NJ State government and have experience in development or fundraising. Familiarity with the health care and educational environment is preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in creating pathways to new funding opportunities
Assist with implementing new programs that improve the healthcare outcomes
Serve as a member and support the Dean’s Community Advisory Board
Assist with providing outreach and education to the community and future healthcare providers of New Jersey
Assist the Dean with managing relationships for strategic implementation, resource development and/or communications for Rowan’s mission of education, research and patient care
Serve as a liaison between AACOM and NJAOPS regarding government relations
Participate in RowanSOM’s strategic planning process
Provide guidance on navigating legislative issues that impact Rowan Medicine
Review and analyze legislation or policy implications and make appropriate recommendations
Collaborate with other governmental affairs colleagues regarding policy and goals for RowanSOM and Rowan University
Research and prepare documents on behalf of the Dean related to strategic initiatives
Develop and manage collaborative partnerships for program creation and implementation
Balance the legislative, social and financial needs of the academic medical program
Represent the research expertise and research opportunities to external stakeholders
Identify and evaluate any acquisitions or strategic opportunities for mergers or extended campus growth objectives
Work with our Government Affairs teams to drive governmental relationships to accomplish the growth and legislative goals for RowanSOM
Develop and maintain key medical, legislative, business and local governmental relationships to meet strategic growth goals
Represents RowanSOM at key business organization functions, fundraisers, etc. and ensure the Dean and leadership is poised to participate
Promote RowanSOM in media and relevant journals where appropriate
Understands and adheres to Rowan’s compliance standards as they appear in RowanSOM’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
PhD and/or JD degree with proven record of governmental relations experience.
